Not sure how it is December 11th already! The holiday season always sneaks up so quickly. I am sure it comes as no surprise that I love this time of year with all the delicious food, family and friends, and time spent sharing good food. I wish time would slow down just a bit so I can fully enjoy it all.
Rewind a bit. Earlier this Fall I had the pleasure of making, styling and shooting a gougère recipe for the Winter edition of Edible Vancouver Magazine. I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making gougères with the lovely Julie from Kitchen Culinaire. Julie has the most gorgeous kitchen filled with beautiful things and stunning light. It is a truly inspiring place to cook, photograph and enjoy a cup of tea and conversation. Julie was so kind to welcome me into her home for the shoot and was a tremendous help in the kitchen and with the props and photos. We even picked the grapes, apples and quince from her garden!
The gougères were so pretty, one of the photos from the shoot was chosen for the cover of the magazine. A wonderful surprise and honour for me to have one of my photos on the cover of my favourite local publication. The magazine is filled with mouth watering photos and recipes for the holiday season and coming winter months. Be sure to pick up a copy before they are all gone. You can also find the digital edition of the magazine and recipe here.
A big thank you to Edible Vancouver for choosing the photo, to Julie for her friendship and sharing her talent in the creative process and to Sher Hackwell for writing the article and recipe.
I thought I would share a few of the photos from the shoot on the blog today.
Happy merry making and gougères eating!
