Spring Is In The Air

The plum and cherry trees are blooming, the birds are chirping and the plants are starting to sprout. Spring is here once again and the plant world is beginning to wake up and renew. Certainly welcome news for a veggie loving creature like myself. On Saturday morning I ventured to the Vancouver Farmers Market and was delighted to find lots of signs of spring there too. The vegetables and greens I found were so pretty and fresh I just had to share some photos to get you excited about the growing and eating season ahead. Now for a little more warmth and sunshine please.
Breakfast radishes from SOLEfood Farm are harbingers of Spring, as is this gorgeous purple sprouting broccoli from Crisp Farm.
Sweet, sweet kales of all varieties and a lovely ‘health mix’ from Shalefield Organic Gardens.
A Spring photo shoot would not be complete without some beautiful happy eggs from Forstbauer Family Natural Food Farm.
Last but not least, some stunning kale blossoms I plucked out from my health mix from Shalefield Organic Gardens. Thanks to all the farmers who are working tirelessly in the rain, wind, sleet, sun, and snow to bring us city folks beautiful and delicious food.
Happy Spring and happy growing!
