Fall is upon us. What better way to ring in this new season than with a couple of farmers, a cheese maker and two darling little girls. Throw in some very cute animals, lots of tasty cheese and good belly laughs and it made for a perfect, very rainy Monday.
I had the pleasure of spending the day with David and Alyssa of Plenty Wild Farms earlier this week who I met through Lydia and Rachel of Cropthorne Farm. David is a farmer and Alyssa a chef and cheese maker. A delicious combination.
I had been hoping to make the trip out to the farm for some time to visit and see what they have been up to. Visiting had the added draw of being a stone’s throw away from The Farm House Natural Cheeses where Alyssa works. They make beautiful cheeses and butter with milk from their cows and goats.
This season, David and Alyssa grew vegetables on the same land as the cheese company which they have been selling at farmers’ markets in and around Vancouver.
The farm is set amongst the mountains where the low hanging fog clung to the hills.
It was wet. It was peaceful. There were animals wandering all over. Many hiding from the rain in the barns.
