A Taste of New York

I recently spent a week in New York City. As with all trips I take, the focus always seems to end up more or less around food. Food is a great way to delve into the culture and history of a place and fill your belly at the same time. I am happy to report that the local food scene is alive and well in New York. We explored the Union Square greenmarket, Brooklyn’s Smorgasburg, the giant food emporium that is Eataly and many local, independent and delicious food shops and restaurants. I thought I would share a few photos of our food discoveries. Of course many more tasty treats were not captured on camera as sometimes you just have to focus on the task at hand- eating.

Union Square greenmarket…

Individually prepared drip coffee at Blue Bottle Coffee (orginating in Oakland) on the High Line.

The coolest egg crates ever, too bad they wouldn’t fit in my suitcase…

A few glimpses inside Eataly…

Just a few of the great vendors at Smorgasburg…

Mast Brothers handcrafted chocolate…

Perhaps the best ice cream sandwich we have ever laid eyes on from Jacques Torres Chocolates.

Thanks for the fabulously tasty trip NYC.

Thanks ladies. It wasn’t hard to find good subjects to photograph but sometimes I just forget to take photos or am too busy eating. Wish I had taken more.
